There is one thing that is certain in the 2021 T20 World Cup and that is that we are going to have a new champion as neither New Zealand nor Australia have won the crown before. New Zealand got to the final by beating England in the semi-final, while Australia made it by beating Pakistan - both were high-scoring matches that really could have gone either way. This is a replay of the 2015 ODI World Cup, and this is who we think will go on to lift the title.

New Zealand Team Preview

Devon Conway was one of the main players for New Zealand in the semi-final, but he has been ruled out of the title match because he has fractured his hand - he punched his bat in frustration when he got out against England. This is a big blow for the Kiwis, meaning that Tim Seifert will probably play in this match.

New Zealand's batting still looks a little bit suspect to us coming into this final. None of their batsmen have scored more than 200 runs in the competition, Kane Williamson is lacking runs, while their best batsman to date is a makeshift opener. Jimmy Neesham, as he did in the semi-final against England, is their only batsman that can change the course of a match in just one over. Although, we doubt that any Aussie bowler will bowl as poorly to him as England’s Chris Jordan did in the semi-final – we really do not get the hype over Jordan to be honest.

New Zealand's strong suit is their bowling, and the likes of Tim Southee and Trent Boult will be looking to make some early inroads. Boult against Aaron Finch is going to be a very interesting battle. You might want to consider putting some money on Boult being New Zealand's best bowler in the final.

Australia Team Preview

If you were to ask the Aussies who they would like to play in the final, they would more than likely have told you New Zealand. The Kiwis are a familiar foe and they have had the upper hand against them in recent times.

David Warner has found a bit of form at the right time, so we think that you should consider putting some money on him to top scorer for the Aussies. When it comes to the "Hit a Six" market, we feel that you cannot go wrong by betting on Mitchell Marsh. Australia's batting line-up is really strong, and they have so much experience and are on a roll that could be pretty difficult to stop.

In addition to this, they have a very good bowling attack. Mitchell Starc was poor against Pakistan, but Pat Cummins was very good. Josh Hazlewood was the poorest of the bunch against Pakistan, but there is not doubt that he can bounce back from being hit for 50 odd runs in his four overs. Adam Zampa has been outstanding throughout the competition and is really hard to score off - you should think about putting your money on him to be the top bowler for the Aussies.

Toss Prediction

The captain that wins the toss is going to field first, we would put our live saving on it. There have been 11 matches played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium at this World Cup and all but one of them has been won by the team that has batted second. Eight of these matches have been night games, like the final, and all eight have been won by the chasing team. So, maybe it is just wise to wait to see which team wins the coin toss and then put your money on them. We must say that it is a shame that the toss has played such a huge part throughout this tournament.

Pitch Conditions

The Dubai International Stadium has served up some absolute belters of wickets and we are expecting the same for this final. There should be plenty of pace and carry in the wicket and this will allow all of the batsmen to play freely. The par score should be around 170, but the team that bats first will be looking for a score of about 180 to make sure.

Our Match Prediction

We are going to put our money on Australia to win this game, although it pains us to say this because we would much rather New Zealand win the title. They are true sportsmen who play the game in the right spirit, while we all know what the Aussies are like. We feel that the Kiwis will struggle to match the Aussie's batting strength, and will struggle against their class bowling attack. Also, Australia seems to always rise their game when it comes to big matches.
