The IPL 2022 is under way and we are starting to see which teams are starting to rise to the top and which ones are falling behind. In Match 12, we see the Sunrisers Hyderabad go head-to-head against one of the new franchises, the Lucknow Super Giants. This match takes place at the DY Patil Stadium on the 4th of April. Which team will be able to come out on top? If you are interested in online cricket betting , take a look at our IPL prediction of who will win this match.

Sunrisers Hyderabad Team Preview

The Sunrisers Hyderabad haven’t had the explosive start to the Indian Premier League as they would have hoped. Rather than entering the tournament fresh-faced, they seem to have continued that campaign from last year. While this would be good if you were the Chennai Super Kings, this is a different story for the Sunrisers who finished bottom of the table.

Their total of 149/7 was demolished by the Rajasthan Royals (210/6) and showed an abysmal batting display in the top-order. The pressure was on for captain Kane Williamson to start a fresh campaign after last year’s disappointment, however he didn’t last long after being caught out in the second over. Big hitters Rahul Tripathi and Nicholas Pooran disappointingly both failed to score any runs before they were dismissed. Aiden Markram and Romario Sheperd brought the fight and scored 81 runs between them, although admittedly too late. The three early wickets that the Royals took certainly was the beginning of the Hyderabad’s downfall. Markram or Washington Sundar seem like solid choices for top batsman if you are considering IPL betting for this match. While Pooran was our choice in their last match for most runs, he certainly showed us up as he was out for a duck!

Did the bowlers do any better? We’ll let you be the judge of that. The strongest player in the bowling side was Bhuvneshwar Kumar who had the lowest economy score of the squad with 7.25. Kumar conceded 29 runs and also managed to take one wicket. Shepherd and Umran Malik were also fairly decent, taking three wickets between them and conceding a total of 72 runs.

Lucknow Super Giants Team Preview

As one of the new franchises to join the tournament this year, the Lucknow Super Giants want to show the other teams they mean business and are a formidable team to play. While they didn’t get off to a great start, they managed to turn their luck around after a close win against the Chennai Super Kings in Match 7.

The combined batting effort from the Giants helped them chase a score of 210/7 from the Kings. KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock got the team off to a flying start adding a total just shy of a century. Evin Lewis was followed by Deepak Hooda, with Ayush Badoni next, taking the Giants over the victory line. Lewis was deservedly awarded Player of the Match and found that Brabourne Stadium’s wicket is good to bat on and achieved a strike rate of 239.13 after scoring 55 runs from 23 balls (not out) as well as three 6’s and six 4’s.

Skipper Rahul praised Ravi Bishnoi for playing well. Bishnoi was the most economical bowler of the squad with a score of 6.00. He managed to take two wickets and concede 24 runs. Avesh Khan, Dushmantha Chameera, and Andrew Tye, were fairly expensive during their four over spells, with a bowling economy of 9.50, 12.25, and 10.00 respectively. If you want to make an IPL prediction for the top bowler in the Lucknow Super Giants squad, we suggest Bishnoi would be a good choice to back. Toss Prediction

We would be surprised if our toss prediction for the match today would be wrong. The captain who wins the toss will not want to bowl second as the threat of dew will be high. We have already seen many teams that are having to bowl further into the evening struggle with their grip on the ball and spinners having a tough time with lots of dew on the pitch. No captain that has the chance to avoid this would deliberately put themselves a disadvantage like this, so whoever wins the toss will want to bowl first.

Pitch Conditions

The red soil at DY Patil Stadium offers a good amount of bounce which will be enjoyable for the pacers in the initial overs. There is also something for the batters as the ball can come easily onto the bat. Three matches have been played at this pitch so far, and it’s been a mixed result. Match 3 had a top score of 208/5 from the Punjab Kings whereas the Royal Challengers Bangalore won with 132/7 in Match 6. Scores above 175 should be a good total to defend, so let’s see at what end of the scale this match lies.

Our Match Prediction

Are both teams equal going into this match? We’re not quite sure. After such a disheartening performance from the Sunrisers Hyderabad, hopefully they will be able to shake off any lingering feelings and head into this match with a fresh outlook. The Giants on the other hand will be keen to keep their winning plan in place. So, what is our match prediction today ? The Lucknow Super Giants are who we predict will win Match 12. What do you think? Will you be backing the Sunrisers or do you hope the newbies in the tournament will reach the top?
